U2's Bono Gratified With Three Nominations For 'Beautiful Day'

Posted on Thursday, January 04 @ 05:14:19 CET by Macphisto
-----------------------------------------------

(Launch.com) --"Beautiful Day," the first single from U2's latest album, All That You Can't Leave Behind,, received three nominations today (LAUNCH, 1/3) when the Grammy Award nominations were announced. The song is up for record of the year, song of the year, and best rock performance by a duo or group with vocal.

U2 frontman Bono told LAUNCH that "Beautiful Day" took quite a bit of wrangling before it found its final form, and he's glad people are acknowledging the song. "It was actually a difficult mix, just trying to get it 'in the boat,' so to speak," he explained. "It was this extraordinary, beautiful thing--like a beautiful marlin that they catch off the coast of Florida, you know? You could break your arm getting it into the boat," he chuckled. "It was a bit like that."

-- Gary Graff, Detroit, and Bruce Simon, New York
