U2 To Announce Tour Info This Week

Posted on Monday, January 08 @ 09:32:34 CET by Macphisto

(Launch.com) -- Things are heating up on the U2 tour front. The group is expected to announce the first set of dates in support of All That You Can't Leave Behind either tomorrow (January 9) or Wednesday (January 10), and Billboard reports that the tour will kick off on March 24 in Miami. A spokesperson for the group's record label would neither confirm nor deny the March 24 information.

Initial plans call for 50 shows in North America, followed by 30 more dates in Europe. Some cities will see multiple shows, depending on ticket sales, according to Billboard, which adds that tickets will go on sale Saturday (January 13) for the first few dates, although this could not be confirmed at press time.

One date does appear to be set, however. The Irish quartet has reportedly locked in an April 23 show at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California, with two additional dates on hold to accommodate what's expected to be high ticket demand from fans. U2's official website promises that tour dates "are set to be formally announced later this month." --Gary Graff, Detroit
