U2 to play secret gig in London

(Allirelandmusic.com) -- AllIrelandMusic can reveal that U2 are to play a secret gig in London on Wednesday, 7 February.
It's believed that the band are organising an intimate gig for winners of a radio station competition similar to their recent performance at New York's Irving Plaza. This type of gig reflects U2's desire to get back to basics with a more stripped down, minimalist feel and less of the huge spectacles that were involved with the Pop and Zooropa tours.The Irving Plaza gig last December saw the Dublin band play to just 1,000 people who were successful entrants to a K-Rock radio competition. U2 kick off their Elevation tour in Miami on 24 March where they will play a number of venues in the States and Canada before heading to Europe at the end of June.
The band will finish the first leg of their tour with a homecoming performance at Slane in Ireland this August.
