U2 to play Canadian dates on mini tour?

(Jam! Showbiz) -- TORONTO (CP) -- There is a remote possibility that rock supergroup U2 could play in Canada before wrapping up a small album release tour, says lead singer Bono.
The two-decade-old Irish group -- Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen -- released their latest album, All That You Can`t Leave Behind, Tuesday.
There are no Canadian dates scheduled for the pre-tour so far, but it hasn`t been ruled out.
"I don`t know," Bono said in an interview from New York, "we played a club in Paris and we may play a few clubs (in North America) so there`s a chance. But we`re certainly coming your way next year."
Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, said he recalled another date when the band played a small venue in Canada -- most likely an appearance at Toronto`s El Mocambo, Dec. 9, 1980.
"I remember feeling sick about whether there would there be 10, 20 or 100 (people there). And I still think of it every night when I walk out on stage, even in front of 100,000.
"I believe we`ve always played just as earnestly no matter how many were watching, and I hope we continue to do so."
The band will launch a full world tour in March.
