Best US Sales For U2 But Miss Top Spot

Posted on Friday, November 10 @ 03:04:49 CET by Macphisto

(HoboMusic.com) -- Irish group's album kept from Number One by rappers.

U2 have failed to take the Number One spot in the US album charts with their new album "All That You Can't Leave Behind", despite recording their highest ever first week sales figures in America, and selling twice as many copies as Radiohead's "Kid A" did when that went to Number One recently. The four-piece were kept from the chart summit by rapper Jay-Z whose new album "The Dynasty Roc La Familia (2000 -)" sold over half a million copies in its first week. Jay-Z himself only just held off a challenge from Atlanta rap duo Outkast, whose own new LP "Stankonia" also broke the half million mark, but could only give them the Number Two spot. All of this meant that Limp Bizkit fell from the top spot with their album "Chocolate Starfish And The Hot-Dog Flavoured Water" now down to Number Four.
