Bono feels "exploited" by Berlusconi

Posted on Monday, April 03 @ 14:45:21 CEST by Macphisto

(RTE.ie) -- 2's Bono has complained to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi about the use of his image in government promotional material distributed in the run-up to the country's elections.

The singer wrote an open letter to Berlusconi saying: "as flattered as I can be of appearing in your brochure, I also feel a bit exploited."

He added that Berlusconi's government had not fulfilled pledges made at the G8 conference in Scotland last year.

The letter was published on the front page of the Corriere della Sera newspaper on Sunday.

The contentious 161-page brochure was published by Berlusconi's Forza Italia (Go Italy!) party and distributed to 10 million Italian homes.

Along with photos of the Prime Minister addressing crowds and talking to world leaders, it also features a picture of Bono.

The caption underneath reads: "The Irish star is grateful to the prime minister for the actions promoted by the Italian government towards poor countries."
