(Dotmusic.com) -- U2 were in Brazil recently recording the video for their next US single, and dotmusic's roving reporter tracked them down to their Rio press conference.

Our exclusive report includes frenzied Brazilian fans garbling about Bono and co in a foreign language, but more importantly, includes an extensive chat with the band.

Bono explains to the gathered reporters what the band's intention was with current album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind', while explaining why he feels so passionately about the Jubilee 2000 'Drop The Debt' campaign.

The band were making the video for 'Walk On' - which will be released to radio only in America next year - with Swedish director Jonas Akerlund.

The track in question has caused political outrage in Burma, because it pays tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's pro-democracy leader, who was recently placed under house arrest by the government.

Meanwhile, in other U2 news, the band are to be commended at this year's Brit Awards ceremony, when they will receive the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' award.

Brit chairman Tony Wadsworth explained: "It's with great pleasure and not a little excitement that the UK music industry seeks to recognise the immense impact that U2 has made throughout the world in over 20 years as a group committed to creative excellence, integrity and rock 'n' roll."

U2 will play live at the ceremony, following in the footsteps of the likes of David Bowie, Queen, The Who and the Spice Girls.
